Growing Together, Aiming High and Achieving Great Things!
Enjoy. Believe. Achieve.
Welcome to Class 2 at Winmarleigh, where our children continue their exciting learning journey, discover new opportunities and develop the confidence, independence and skills to take on the world around them.
Our Class 2 family brings together children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 in a supportive, inspiring and ambitious learning environment where everyone is encouraged to Enjoy, Believe and Achieve.
Being part of a mixed-age class is something we celebrate. Our children learn alongside one another, share their knowledge and experiences, and develop strong friendships across year groups. Our older pupils become leaders, mentors and positive role models, while our younger pupils are encouraged and inspired by those around them.
As children progress through Class 2, we nurture their individuality, celebrate their strengths and encourage them to embrace new challenges. We want every child to feel happy, valued and confident, knowing that with determination, perseverance and support, they can achieve great things.
Enjoy – Inspiring Curiosity and a Love of Learning
In Class 2, we believe learning should be exciting, challenging and full of opportunities to discover something new.
Our broad and engaging curriculum encourages children to be curious, ask thoughtful questions, explore different ideas and develop a genuine enthusiasm for learning.
From fascinating scientific investigations and creative projects to exploring history, geography, literature and the wider world, we aim to bring learning to life through meaningful experiences that inspire and motivate.
We encourage children to think critically, work collaboratively, solve problems and make connections between different areas of their learning.
Our mixed-age classroom provides opportunities for children to share ideas, learn from different perspectives and support one another, helping to create a positive learning environment where everyone has something valuable to contribute.
We want our children to enjoy the challenge of learning, develop new interests and discover talents they never knew they had.
Believe – Building Confidence, Character and Independence
As our children grow, so does their confidence, independence and sense of responsibility.
In Class 2, we encourage every child to believe in themselves, recognise their strengths and understand that challenges are opportunities to learn and improve.
We nurture resilience, perseverance and a positive attitude towards learning, helping children develop the confidence to try new things, learn from mistakes and keep going when something feels difficult.
Our children are encouraged to express their opinions, listen respectfully to others, make thoughtful decisions and take increasing responsibility for their own learning.
The unique structure of our mixed-age class creates valuable opportunities for leadership, teamwork and collaboration. Older children develop confidence and responsibility as role models, while younger children learn to look ahead with ambition and enthusiasm.
Kindness, respect, patience and understanding are at the heart of our classroom community. We celebrate differences, value everyone's contributions and help children develop an appreciation of the diverse world in which we live.
Above all, we want every child to leave Class 2 believing in their abilities, confident in who they are and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
Achieve – Reaching Our Potential and Preparing for the Future
In Class 2, we have high aspirations for every child and believe that success looks different for everyone.
Our carefully planned curriculum builds on the strong foundations established in Class 1, developing children's knowledge, understanding and skills across the National Curriculum.
As children progress through Key Stage 2, we provide appropriate support and challenge to help them become increasingly independent, reflective and confident learners.
We celebrate achievement in all its forms, whether that means mastering a challenging mathematical concept, producing a wonderful piece of writing, discovering a new talent, showing determination or demonstrating kindness towards others.
We encourage children to take pride in their work, recognise their progress and develop the motivation to aim high.
For our oldest pupils, Class 2 is also an important stepping stone towards secondary school. We help children prepare for this next chapter by developing their independence, organisational skills, confidence and sense of responsibility.
Our aim is for every child to leave Winmarleigh not only with strong academic foundations, but also with the character, values and self-belief to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond.
Reading – Discovering New Worlds and New Possibilities
Reading opens doors to knowledge, imagination and endless possibilities.
In Class 2, we continue to nurture a love of reading, encouraging children to become confident, fluent and thoughtful readers who read both for pleasure and to learn.
Through engaging texts, shared stories, class discussions and opportunities for independent reading, children explore a wide range of authors, genres and ideas.
We encourage our pupils to think deeply about what they read, ask questions, make predictions, develop their vocabulary and share their own interpretations.
As children grow in confidence, reading becomes an increasingly powerful tool for learning across the curriculum, helping them develop knowledge, understanding, empathy and curiosity about the wider world.
We want every child to enjoy reading, believe in themselves as a reader and achieve the confidence and fluency to explore the world through books.
Learning Together, Leading by Example
One of the most special aspects of Class 2 is the opportunity for children of different ages to learn and grow together.
Our younger pupils benefit from the encouragement, guidance and example of older classmates, while our older children develop valuable leadership skills through supporting others and taking on additional responsibilities.
This creates a strong sense of community, where children learn that everyone has something to offer and that success is even more rewarding when it is shared.
Through collaboration, teamwork and mutual respect, our children develop the communication and social skills that will support them throughout their lives.
We are proud to see our pupils grow not only as learners, but also as thoughtful, responsible and caring young people who make a positive contribution to our school community.
Ready for the Next Adventure!
Class 2 is an exciting and important chapter in every child's journey through Winmarleigh.
It is a time to discover new interests, develop lasting friendships, take on greater responsibilities and grow into confident, capable and compassionate young people.
We want our children to look back on their time at Winmarleigh with wonderful memories, a love of learning and a real sense of pride in everything they have accomplished.
Most importantly, we want them to look ahead with excitement, ambition and the belief that their possibilities are endless.
At Winmarleigh, we Enjoy every opportunity, Believe in our potential and Achieve great things together!
